Job summary:
Perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities. Working evenings after 5pm, Monday- Friday. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
Qualifications:
Required:
Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
A current valid driver’s license
Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance
Preferred:
Diploma or GED
Custodial experience
Skills required:
Knowledge of:
Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures
Cleaning materials and disinfectants
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
The operation of common janitorial equipment (e.g. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (e.g. vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)
Ability to:
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Great written and verbal communication skills
Build good rapport with those contacted in-the-course-of work
Job responsibilities:
Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment. Cleaning duties will be performed outside of regular office hours
Perform moderate to heavy manual work
Perform minor repairs and assist with office moves
Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment, with occasional travel from site to site; exposure to dust, grease, odors, and cleaning agents; work hours include shift work to minimize disruption of daily operational activities
Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment
