Custodian

Position Overview

Calvary Christian Center is seeking a dedicated and service-minded Custodian to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments across all church facilities and affiliated properties. This role supports the ministry by ensuring that every space—whether used for worship, education, or community outreach—is prepared for people to encounter God and experience excellence.

The Custodian serves as a steward of the church’s physical resources, approaching responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and a heart to serve. While not a pastoral role, this position plays a vital part in advancing the mission by creating environments that reflect honor, care, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Stewardship of Facilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout the sanctuary, classrooms, offices, and common areas across all church properties.

Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all designated areas.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.

Ensure stairways, entryways, and high-traffic areas remain clean and presentable.

Collect and dispose of trash from indoor and outdoor areas, including parking lots.

Empty trash bins and replace liners in all designated areas.

Clean windows, glass doors, and other high-touch surfaces.

Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks (e.g., carpet care, high dusting).

Replenish supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and shared spaces.

Multi-Site Facility Care

Provide custodial support not only for Calvary Christian Center, but also for affiliated properties including but not limited to Calvary Christian Academy, Daytona Dream Center, and other campuses as assigned.

Travel between locations as needed to ensure all facilities are maintained to the same standard of excellence.

Serve each location with consistency, recognizing each space as an extension of the church’s mission and ministry.

Facility Care and Support

Serve as a good steward of church property by identifying and reporting maintenance needs or safety concerns.

Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly used, maintained, and stored.

Follow established cleaning procedures and facility protocols with consistency and care.

Safety and Excellence

Adhere to all health and safety standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.

Maintain a safe environment for staff, volunteers, students, and guests.

Take proactive steps to prevent accidents and ensure spaces are ready for ministry use.

Teamwork and Communication

Communicate clearly and respectfully with staff and leadership regarding facility needs.

Work collaboratively with the Facilities team to ensure thorough and efficient coverage.

Demonstrate a positive, servant-hearted attitude in all interactions.

Ministry Support

Assist with setup and breakdown for church services, school functions, events, and special gatherings across campuses, as needed.  

Remain flexible and willing to support the needs of the ministry as they arise.

Approach all responsibilities with the understanding that every task contributes to life change and ministry impact.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous custodial or facilities experience is a plus.

Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning supplies.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Ability to lift, move, and carry items as needed.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability and willingness to travel between multiple church properties.

Must be aligned with the mission, values, and beliefs of Calvary Christian Center.

Ability to work ahead 

Working Conditions

May require evenings, weekends, and flexibility based on church services, school schedules, and events.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potential allergens.

Travel between campuses and affiliated properties may be required.
