POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for supervising the work of part-time custodians during their evening/night shifts and overseeing the cleaning of all Draper City buildings and associated facilities. This is a working supervisor position responsible for cleaning as well as supervising, in addition to assigned maintenance projects.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervises staff assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Directs and supervises custodial care for all city-owned buildings and facilities, grounds and properties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Performs cleaning and maintenance of City buildings and facilities in addition to supervising staff.
Maintains all janitorial stock, supplies and inventory.
Completes specialty cleaning, floorcare, windows, surfaces, trash, grounds and maintenance projects as assigned.
Provides direction for meetings and visitors after hours.
Prepares rooms, buildings and facilities for afternoon meetings and events.
Checks security of all buildings, individual office spaces, lighting and lockup.
Performs nightly inspections, including safety hazards, and coverage for custodial staff.
Performs minor preventative maintenance repair on a wide variety of equipment relating to

Ensures compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and
Provides snow removal services to City buildings and facilities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience – Minimum of four (4) years of related experience performing custodial labor and building maintenance work and two (2) years of supervisory experience of custodial or facility maintenance employees.
License and Certification – Valid Utah Driver License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of –
Methods, materials and equipment used in custodial and grounds repairs and recognize need for repairs
Safety practices of maintenance work
Hazardous materials policies, procedures and safety regulations
General carpentry, electrical, mechanical plumbing and related skill areas as needed to perform routine maintenance duties
Skilled with –
Use of maintenance tools, equipment, and materials for performing work
Proper use of cleaning agents for scope of work performed
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, emails and preventative maintenance software
Prioritizing tasks
Ability to –
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Perform work required that is physical in nature
Maintain effective working relationships with employees
Interact with the general public in a polite and professional manner
Work unsupervised and with the utmost confidentiality

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Tasks require a variety of physical activities such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity are required for most essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Some exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. (Performance of duties may require working in varied weather conditions such as extreme cold or hot conditions.) Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dusty or greasy conditions. Occasionally lift or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Operate equipment and drive vehicles.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Monday to Friday 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., on site
Supervisory hours must be between 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Some flexibility with the remainder of the shift based on Manager’s approval.
Salary range: (Starting wage is dependent on experience.)
o Custodial Supervisor $25.55 - $42.61 per hour
