INTRODUCTION:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.
We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Customer Service & Passenger Assistance
The Security Guard will serve as frontline ambassadors for the Airport, providing:
· Professional, courteous, and proactive customer care to all airport users
· Wayfinding assistance, ground transportation guidance, and general airport information
· Support during irregular operations, including flight delays and peak travel periods
· Assistance with baggage cart management and availability throughout groundside and public areas.
Staff will be trained to prioritize a positive passenger experience while maintaining compliance with airport regulations.
Groundside Patrol & Curbside Management
The Security Guard shall maintain a consistent and visible presence throughout all Groundside Areas, including:
· Regular patrols of all Groundside Areas
· Active management and enforcement of curbside controls
· Enforcement of Groundside traffic regulations as directed by the Airport Operator
· Issuance of the Airport’s infraction notices and warnings when required
· Immediate reporting of violations and operational concerns to the Airport Operations Centre.
All enforcement activities will be conducted professionally, fairly, and with a customer-first approach.
Ground Transportation Oversight
The Security Guard shall:
· Maintain and enforce the Airport Ground Transportation Program
· Monitor commercial vehicle compliance and staging areas
· Ensure orderly flow of taxis, limousines, buses, ride-share, and other authorized operators. The focus will be on safe, efficient vehicle movement while minimizing congestion and enhancing passenger convenience.
Parking & Facility Oversight
The Security Guard will support parking operations by:
· Conducting parking lot inspections in accordance with agreed specifications
· Ensuring entrance and exit gates are operational
· Identifying and removing unsafe objects or hazards
· Assisting with parking requirements as requested by the Airport Operator
· Maintaining a clean and orderly parking office and associated facilities
The Security Guard will also perform preventative maintenance program duties as specified by the Airport Operator.
Safety, Security & Reporting
The Security Guard shall maintain strong operational awareness and accountability by:
· Reporting vandalism, hazards, and suspicious activity to the Airport Operations Centre.
· Maintaining detailed and accurate patrol records
· Keeping a daily log of events, reviewed and verified each day
· Monitoring flight schedules and adjusting staffing levels to accommodate operational demands.
Operational Support During Irregular Operations
The Security Guard shall monitor flight activity and proactively adjust staffing to support:
· Peak travel periods
· Delays and cancellations
· Adverse weather conditions
· Special events or increased passenger volumes
The goal is to maintain safe, orderly, and customer-friendly curbside and parking operations at all times.
WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma
MUST hold a valid Ontario Security Guard License
MUST hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificate
Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods.
Ability to complete frequent patrols.
Understanding of escalation policies and procedures.
Fluent English communication skills: French is considered an asset.
Excellent customer service and reception skills.

WHAT THE JOB OFFERS YOU:
Rate of Pay: $19.50 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 1200 to 2000hrs
