Location: 1040 Brookes Street, North Bay, ON
As per the agreement of participation in the Canada Summer Jobs Program, under the Ministry of Employment and Social Development applicants must meet certain criteria. Applicants must be between the and of 15 and 30 years of age inclusive at the start of employment. The applicant must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred. The applicant must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director of the North Bay Indigenous Hub, and with the support of the Traditional Team, the Cultural Camp Assistant – Summer Student will assist in the planning and delivery of culturally competent programing to the clients of the North Bay Indigenous Hub.
The Cultural Camp Assistant – Summer Student will engage with a variety of age groups in programing that is rooted in Indigenous culture, history and ways of being. This position will assist with the planning and delivery of programing throughout the summer within the Traditional Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A current Post Secondary student returning to school in September 2026.
Experience working in a Traditional and Cultural role is an asset
Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history and ways of being
Experience working with a variety of age groups is an asset
Experience working and facilitating group activities
Knowledge of Indigenous language is an asset
Current First Aid and CPR with AED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Indigenous wellness and priorities
Assist facilitation and coordination skills for groups
Ability to work in a kind, supportive manner with Indigenous people and families
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities and conflict resolution skills
Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills
Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous history, culture and ways of being
Ability to work in a manner respectful of First Nations culture, values, and beliefs
Ability to act professionally and work with minimal supervision
Ability to adhere to NBIH privacy policy and procedures
Ability to work flexible hours
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supporting the implementation of cultural programing and activities
Collaborating with team to offer activities, field trips, community cultural events or activity days
Active team player withing the Traditional Team of the North Bay Indigenous Hub
Assist with cleaning and sanitization duties
Adhere to NBIH reporting guidelines and documentation requirements
Communicate regularly with peers, supervisor and clients/participants of activities
A current Criminal/Police Records Check and Vulnerable Persons check is a requirement for this position recent within the last six months.
