Since 1954, CCI Ottawa has been dedicated to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive city where immigrants and refugees are supported, connected, and empowered. We are a full service settlement agency with multiple departments that offer a wide range of programs and services. Using a client-centered approach, we offer targeted case management. We do needs assessments, support with official documents and paperwork, information and orientation sessions, crisis counselling, housing assistance, translation, language classes, and help navigating public services and agencies such as healthcare, the CRA, Service Ontario, and many others. In addition we offer programs that help newcomers become socially and economically connected, whether through sports, recreation, cultural activities, or job search and networking support. CCI also offers these services in a youth specific context. Finally, CCI Ottawa operates 4 Transitional Housing Sites. Each site provides shelter, food, and wrap around services to support clients as they move into permanent accommodations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Client Support Services (CSS) program empowers Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) to become independent and assists them with their first-year settlement needs. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the CSS Caseworker provides GAR clients with a broad base of support and resources using a multidisciplinary, case-management approach. The ideal candidate is a leader who is adept at managing demanding, high-pressure tasks.

Employment status: Full-time, until April 9, 2027
Hourly rate: $31.61-$32.56

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the CSS Caseworker will:
· Assess and respond to initial needs of GARs
· Intensive support to vulnerable refugee clients
· Provide interpretation and accompany GARs to facilitate access to services
· Perform home visits and in-person follow-ups
· Establish and maintain concrete links between GARS and existing resources in the community
· Capacity Building: Develop outreach initiatives, educational materials and sustainable strategies that are responsive to the complex needs of GAR clients
· Participate in activities that educate the community about the issues and barriers faced by GARs
· Organize & facilitate workshops to orient GARs to their new community, Canadian culture & social norms
· Evaluate client progress at the beginning, middle and end of the program
· Maintain documentation and data entry. Prepare statistical information as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills)
· Post-secondary education in Social Services, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders
· Fluency in English is required. French and other languages are a strong asset
· Knowledge and understanding of refugee issues with ability to outreach to newcomer communities
· Familiarity with programs and services available in Ottawa
· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
· Excellent presentation skills, interpersonal skills, mediation skills, and cross-cultural competence
· Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques
· Ability to apply GBA+ lens when working with a very diverse population
· Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Office 365, PowerPoint, Excel and Social Media
· Ability to deal with confidential material and matters, and refugees with complex needs
· Availability to work in a hybrid model and a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
· A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
