Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Cryptographic SME to support and enhance enterprise cryptographic and key management services within a highly regulated financial services environment. This role will focus on maintaining the integrity, availability, and governance of cryptographic infrastructure, including HSM management, PKI services, certificate and SSH key management, and enterprise key lifecycle operations across distributed and legacy systems. The position will also support operational risk management, audit readiness, incident response, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with security standards, governance frameworks, and business objectives.

What you will do:

• Support cryptographic and key management services in alignment with organisational security strategies and operational objectives.
• Maintain the integrity, availability, and security of cryptographic infrastructure and services across enterprise environments.
• Generate, distribute, store, recover, and delete cryptographic keys in accordance with defined governance and security procedures.
• Manage enterprise PKI services, certificate lifecycle management, and SSH key management activities.
• Configure, install, support, and maintain HSM platforms across enterprise environments.
• Support cryptographic hardware management activities including onsite configuration and operational support.
• Collaborate with service management teams to coordinate resource planning, scheduling, and delivery of HSM and key management activities.
• Deliver operational support activities within defined SLAs and service expectations.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes including root cause analysis and remediation activities.
• Produce operational management information, risk statements, and audit evidence documentation.
• Maintain accurate operational documentation, process records, and audit trails for governance and compliance purposes.
• Adhere to IT security standards, risk management frameworks, and operational control requirements.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, process documentation, and governance controls.
• Support project delivery activities related to cryptographic infrastructure and security services.
• Provide out-of-hours operational support for cryptographic infrastructure when required.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Support audit activities and remediation of identified control issues or operational risks.
• Develop automation and scripting solutions using Python or similar technologies to support cryptographic operations.

• Experience working within cryptography, information security, or enterprise security operations environments.
• Strong knowledge of cryptographic concepts, enterprise key management, and PKI services.
• Experience managing and supporting HSM platforms including Thales, Entrust, Gemalto, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of certificate lifecycle management and SSH key management practices.
• Experience supporting centralised, HSM-backed key management solutions across full key lifecycles
• Knowledge of cryptographic services across application, database, platform, legacy, and distributed systems.
• Experience supporting operational governance, audit, risk, and compliance activities within regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management.
• Experience creating and maintaining operational documentation and audit evidence records.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and make informed decisions within tight timelines.
• Experience working with automation and scripting technologies including Python.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• ITIL Foundation certification is required.
• Experience working within operational IT security environments is desirable.
• Industry-recognised security certifications are preferred.
• Industry-recognised project management certifications are advantageous.
• Experience using SharePoint, Confluence, and JIRA is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems is desirable.
• Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, and data protection principles is preferred.
• Experience working with vendors and cryptographic products including Thales, Entrust, and Cryptomathic is highly desirable.
