The Crisis Therapeutic Support Professional (CTSP) provides trauma-informed, relationship-centered care and crisis stabilization to youth within the Residential Treatment Center (RTC). Serving as the Lead Shift staff, the CTSP ensures therapeutic structure, safety, and compliance throughout each shift and participates in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours crisis response.
The CTSP plays a critical role in bridging direct care and clinical services, providing immediate crisis intervention, completing crisis documentation, and modeling TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) practices for staff and youth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Shift Operations
Lead assigned shift ensuring staff coverage, safety checks, and adherence to daily routines.
Supervise and coach staff on TBRI-based connection, empowerment, and correction strategies.
Participate in the on-call rotation to respond to crisis incidents or staff emergencies.
Communicate all critical events to the Program Manager and Clinical Team.
Support onboarding and mentoring of new staff to ensure trauma-informed consistency.
Crisis Response & Therapeutic Support
Required to be 1:1 with clients the treatment team determines to need the additional support.
Provide immediate and appropriate interventions during behavioral or emotional crises using approved de-escalation techniques.
Lead crisis stabilization efforts by modeling calm, regulated responses and guiding youth through self-regulation strategies.
Implement individualized service, safety, and crisis plans as directed by the QMHP and therapist.
Engage in post-crisis debriefings with staff and youth to promote understanding, accountability, and restoration of felt safety.
Ensure proper follow-up after crisis incidents, including documentation and staff communication.
Documentation & Crisis Notes
Complete accurate and detailed Crisis Notes within the required timeframe, documenting antecedents, behavior, interventions, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
Record daily shift logs, behavior notes, and incident reports in the agency’s electronic record system (e.g., ExtendedReach).
Ensure documentation aligns with DFPS Minimum Standards, T3C Blueprint, and agency policy.
Review and submit all crisis documentation to the Program Manager and QMHP for quality assurance and clinical review.
