The Credit Risk Lead will be responsible for building, managing, and continuously enhancing credit risk strategies for short-tenure, small-ticket unsecured personal loans. This role focuses on strengthening underwriting frameworks, improving portfolio performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance while working closely with data science, collections, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Strategy & Underwriting
• Design, implement, and refine credit policies and strategies for unsecured personal loan products.
• Partner with Data Science teams to enhance decision engines, scorecards, rule-based logic, and real-time underwriting models.
• Develop robust risk segmentation using behavioural data, bureau insights, device intelligence, fraud signals, and portfolio trends.
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Analytics
• Analyse bounce rates, roll rates, early-bucket delinquencies, and cohort behaviour to identify emerging risk segments.
• Track vintages, cohorts, and DPD curves to continuously optimize approval logic, limits, and pricing policies.
• Identify trends driving delinquencies and recommend corrective credit actions.
Collections & Performance Optimization
• Share actionable insights with Collections teams to improve pre-due, early-DPD performance, and cure rates.
• Support strategy alignment between underwriting and collections for better portfolio outcomes.
Fraud & Controls
• Strengthen fraud detection mechanisms, identity verification processes, and thin-file underwriting frameworks.
• Ensure high-quality approvals while minimizing fraud and early defaults.
Governance & Compliance
• Own credit policy governance, documentation, and internal controls.
• Ensure full compliance with RBI Digital Lending Guidelines and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on market practices, competitor strategies, and regulatory changes to keep the credit framework future-ready.
Candidate Profile
• Hands-on experience in unsecured personal loan credit risk within a fintech or NBFC environment.
• Strong expertise in digital underwriting, policy design, and credit decisioning for short-tenure loan products.
• Proven experience with scorecards, rule engines, bureau data, device signals, and behavioural analytics.
• Ability to collaborate closely with Data Science teams and translate complex data insights into clear credit actions.
• Strong communication skills, stakeholder management ability, and an analytical, proactive mindset.
