Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking an credit risk analytics intern to support our credit risk team.
Continental Finance Company interns get real-life exposure to the daily duties of the department. They spend the summer as a valued member of their respective team, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have an impact on the business operations. An additional focus of the program will be to complete a final project that will be an overview of activities, tasks and experiences throughout the 10-week program.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for execution of project tasks outlined by the mentor
Support the Credit Risk team with analytical and data-driven initiatives related to consumer credit risk
Perform data analysis using consumer credit bureau information to support risk management strategies
Assist with data querying and analysis using SQL and/or statistical analysis tools
Summarize data, build figures, and develop insights using Excel, Python, or other analytical tools
Support the preparation of analysis and findings in formats suitable for executive leadership review
Complete weekly reports and summaries outlining project progress, analysis, and key learnings
Meet regularly with a mentor to review project status, analytical approach, results, and questions
Gain exposure to multiple aspects of the Credit Risk function and broader CFC business model
Support the department and company by providing analytical insights, innovative ideas, and an outside perspective
This is a paid position for undergraduates and is located in Wilmington, Delaware.
CFC offers a hybrid work schedule which includes three (3) core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two (2) remote workdays (Monday and Friday)
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Currently enrolled in and working toward an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Physics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline
Available to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week summer program: June 2nd – August 6th, 2026
Completed coursework in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, computer science, or statistical programming
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Curiosity and self-motivation with an interest in analyzing consumer financial data
Comfort asking questions and collaborating with Credit Risk team members
Strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate findings clearly in written and verbal formats
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
