We’re looking for a confident, organised and proactive Credit Controller to join our team on a 3‑month contract. If you’re someone who enjoys bringing structure to busy workloads, building positive relationships and keeping financial processes running smoothly, this role offers the chance to make an immediate impact.
You’ll take responsibility for managing the collection of outstanding payments, ensuring accounts are up to date and issues are resolved promptly. Working closely with internal teams and external customers, you’ll help maintain healthy cashflow and support the wider finance function during a key period.
This is a hands‑on role where your communication skills, attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure will be just as important as your experience.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and ensuring timely payment of invoices
Making outbound calls and sending follow‑up communications to chase overdue balances
Building strong relationships with customers to resolve queries and remove barriers to payment
Monitoring aged debt and escalating concerns where necessary
Allocating payments and maintaining accurate records
Preparing reports for the finance team on outstanding debt and collection progress
Supporting month‑end processes as required
Working collaboratively with colleagues to improve processes and customer experience
Location and working hours:
Full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
Office location: Stuart House, Peterborough (PE1 5DD) with flexibility to work from home as agreed with line manager.
Required skills and attributes:
Previous experience in credit control or a similar customer‑focused finance role
Strong communication skills and a confident, professional manner
Ability to prioritise workload and manage deadlines
Comfortable working with finance systems and Excel
A proactive approach to problem‑solving and customer engagement
Someone who can hit the ground running and contribute quickly
