Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position works closely with the Controller/Finance Manager to support both operational and strategic financial needs within a fast‑paced service‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close processes
Oversee job costing, WIP schedules, and project profitability reporting
Maintain and reconcile AP/AR, vendor statements, and customer accounts
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure proper revenue recognition for service, installation, and maintenance contracts
Prepare and file sales tax, business tax, and other regulatory filings
Support external audits, tax planning, and compliance
Analyze financial data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost‑saving opportunities
Collaborate with operations, service, and installation teams to support accurate financial reporting
Help improve internal controls and streamline accounting processes
Qualifications
Active CPA license required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of accounting experience (industry or public accounting)
Experience in construction, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or service‑based industries is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Foundation, or similar)
Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills
Ability to communicate effectively with non‑financial team members
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and managing multiple priorities
