Term/Time/Location: Summer 2026 Term, June 18 – July 30, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:55-11:55, Location TBD

Number of Credits, Number of Course Hours, Value of Contract: 3, 39, $11,479

TQRs:

• PhD degree or Equivalent in mental health field (i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Counselling Psychology)

• MSW or MA in mental health field or equivalent with a minimum 8 years of clinical experience focused on assessment and treatment of couples & families

• Bilingual (English & French)

• Supervisory Experience (AAMFT approved supervisor or equivalent) – minimum 8 years of supervisory experience in the area of couple and family psychotherapy

• Psychotherapy Permit Professional Order of Psychologists of Quebec (OPQ)

• Completed Graduate or Post-graduate training in couple and family therapy in an accredited university or training center

Demonstrated clinical expertise and teaching supervisory experience in the following areas:

• Knowledge and training in major models of couple and family therapy
• Advanced practice in four core models of family therapy in relation to problems pertaining to children, adolescents, and adults from middle adulthood to later life
• Knowledge of clinical models include: EFT-humanistic, cognitive behavioural family therapy, psychodynamic and systemic family therapy.
• Advanced skills in systemic family therapy, emotionally focused therapy for families, attachment focused family therapy, and cognitive behavioural family therapy
• Key approaches that cross-theoretical orientations (common factors)
• Advanced psychotherapeutic skills
• Knowledge of common factors in family treatment integrating the lens of gender, race, poverty and social class and multiculturalism into family treatment.
• Clinical competence with families across the lifespan.
• Developmental theory and advanced clinical psychotherapeutic practice (the application of specific psychotherapy techniques in family therapy targeting families at developmental transitions along the life cycle trajectory)
• Knowledge of core family systems theories from the classic models to post-modern methods
• Evidence-based family treatments for problems pertaining to children, adolescents, and adults from early to middle adulthood to later life (i.e., families with young children, parent-child relations, middle adult years, inter-generational dynamics during the later years).
• Integrative family systems treatment with attention to common factors and emphasis placed on developing clinical competence with families across the lifespan.
• Treatment in relation to problems identified at life cycle transition points.
