Corporate Controller

The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and accounting processing for Hatzel & Buehler. This role works closely with Branch Controllers to ensure the administrative and accounting functions are complying with all Corporate policies and procedures at the Branch. The Corporate Controller manages the Corporate Accounting Staff, ensuring compliance with GAAP, Federal, State and Local Regulations and Law.  The Corporate Controller reports to the VP-Treasurer (CFO) regarding financial and accounting transactions and policy or procedural matters. This role directs the financial and administrative activities of the company to ensure compliance with corporate standard operating procedures and initiatives.

Core Job Duties:

Partner effectively with other finance/accounting team members and non-accounting functions to improve controls, process enhancements, and provide accurate financial reporting.

Guide financial decisions by establishing strong internal controls, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

Responsible for ensuring Hatzel & Buehler is in compliance with GAAP and construction financial management and accounting regulations and standards.

Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors for the six-month review and twelve-month audit.

Monitor staff to ensure the closing processes, expenses, and reimbursements are operating correctly.

Manage team performance by setting clear goals and expectations and track progress against the goals.

Oversee branch financial reporting to analyze the company’s financial performance.

Lead the budgeting process to develop budgets, forecasts, and reports for the company and branch locations.

Responsible for preparation of quarterly Financial Statements.

Oversight of accounts payable.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 

Masters degree preferred.

10 or more years of experience in a controller role.

CCIFP - Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional.

CPA - Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Skills required:

Proven background in overseeing company accounting and financial departments.

Strong experience in management and assessment of financial performance.

Ability to analyze financial results and assist management with development of action plans to maintain performance levels and profitability expectations.

Ability to work efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision.

Skilled at data analytics to analyze financial data for determining profitability.

Knowledge of best accounting and finance practices, construction experience preferred.

Software: MS Office, ERP Systems, Spectrum, Accounting and Spreadsheet Software, advanced proficiency.
