WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator - Sample Preparation and Laboratories to join the team in Walvis Bay. This individual will be required to strengthen the coordination and efficiency of sample preparation and laboratory operations at the branch. The role will ensure that samples are received, prepared, processed and tracked in accordance with company procedures, quality standards and client requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities
Coordinating the receipt, registration, preparation and dispatch of samples to the laboratory for analysis.
Ensuring that all sample preparation procedures are conducted in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Monitoring the flow of samples to ensure timely processing and avoid operational delays.
Liaising with inspectors, samplers, and laboratory personnel to ensure accurate sample handling and preparation.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation relating to sample preparation and laboratory activities.
Ensuring laboratory equipment and preparation tools are used correctly and maintained in accordance with operational procedures.
Monitoring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements within the sample preparation and laboratory areas.
Assisting the Operations or Laboratory Manager with operational reporting, coordination of laboratory activities, and workflow planning.
Supporting investigations relating to discrepancies in sampling, preparation, or laboratory processes where required.
Assisting with internal quality checks and supporting internal or external audits where necessary.
Promoting safe working practices and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Required Competencies
Ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy
Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organisational control of branch operations.
Strong customer service orientation
Trained in conflict management with effective interpersonal skills
Highly proficient in English (verbal and written)
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish goals.
Ability to work from your own initiative with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
A Diploma or Certificate in Chemistry, Laboratory Science, Metallurgy or a related field will be an added advantage.
Required work experience
Minimum 2 years experience in Laboratory Science, Metallurgy or a related field will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of sampling methodologies and sample preparation techniques used in mineral and commodity inspection.
Basic understanding of laboratory quality management systems and operational procedures.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to laboratory and sample preparation environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Experience working with laboratory information systems (LIMS) or similar operational systems will be advantageous.
