About the facility: LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the wellbeing of all members. The Licensed Catherine Charles Long Term Care is a 24-hour, 365 day’s facility. About the position: Plan and prepare food menu for a 24/7 operation that is consistent with Canada’s Healthy Food Guide; Must be able to follow a meal plan as set out by the Nutritionist; Maintain records of food usage and supplies; Obtain food and supplies based of budget; Must be able to shop in bulk; Must be able to keep inventory of all grocery supplies; Clean and sanitize work area.
Duties:
➢ Planning and preparing a one-year food menu for a 24/7 operation that is consistent with Canada’s Food Guide for First Nations, Inuit and Metis;
➢ Requesting Purchase Orders for groceries, equipment, and vending supplies based on the budget;
➢ Maintaining records of food supplies, stock and usage (includes master grocery list);
➢ Utilizing knowledge of food safety and sanitation such as use of temperature gauges to check temperature of food; prevention of cross contamination; and follow sanitization schedule;
➢ Cooking for large groups of 10 or more people cost effectively, provide catering services to LLRIBHS departments upon request, and bill appropriate department for catering services;
Qualifications: Must have relevant education; Safe Food Handling certificate is required; Previous cooking experience is an asset; Must be willing to take further education and training; Valid First Aide/CPR & WHMIS is an asset; Ability to understand/speak Cree is an asset and is desirable; Excellent written and communication skills; Must possess a valid driver’s license.
A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Screening and Driver’s Abstract is required
upon hire. Since this position is engaged primarily in serving the interests of First Nations people, Lac La Ronge
Indian Band shall give preference to First Nations people who possess the requisite skill sets and experience.
