About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join MezTal, supporting a U.S.-based client within the Senior Housing / Real Estate industry.

This role will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function, ensuring financial integrity, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and leading high-level financial operations. The Controller will play a key role in driving process improvements, managing reporting accuracy, and partnering with leadership on financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.
• Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, setting performance standards and driving accountability.
• Review and approve financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Provide strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure successful completion.
• Oversee and optimize accounting processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
• Ensure accurate and efficient use of Yardi for financial reporting and system management.
• Partner closely with senior leadership on financial planning and strategic initiatives.

Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• 100% onsite availability in Guadalajara (no hybrid or remote option).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (only Accounting degrees will be considered).
• Extensive experience in Senior Housing or Real Estate industry.
• Hands-on experience with Yardi accounting software.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing complex operations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English (advanced level required).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
