This role is based at Amandelbult Complex, Thabazimbi, South Africa
The Control Systems Analyst carries the necessary authority and responsibility to maintain, optimise and improve network infrastructure, support software and hardware systems to meet control solution performance requirements. The Control Systems Analyst will review the stability of the control solution using the tools provided and recommend corrective action to the operational management. The resultant remedial action must be implemented and commissioned in line with Valterra Platinum standards.
Other responsibilities include:
• Review the process performance reports
• Implement corrective action for areas of instability
• Analyze and identify problems on the current systems and infrastructure
• System trouble shooting and software and hardware problems resolution
• Support on existing networks, hardware and software
• Implementation of modifications to the control solution
• Adherence to the Valterra Platinum Change Procedure
• Execution and testing of scheduled backups on all control systems
• Adherence to Valterra Platinum Standards
• Schedule and prioritise maintenance tasks
• Training and development of end users
• Control monthly maintenance budgets for process control section
This role is in Processing department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Senior Engineer Instrumentation.
• Instrumentation Trade Certificate
• National technical diploma or NQF level 6 equivalent or,
• Relevant control systems certification from OEM training courses attended:
• Schneider, Allen-Bradely, Siemens Step7 &WinCC
Experience:
• 5 years relevant experience in instrumentation (Senior Technician role preferably)
• 5 years relevant work experience in PCS7 Software Control Systems
Additional information
Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and specifications
• Advanced computer literacy and IT skills
• English literate
• Good decision-making skills
• Project management
• Controller design, configuration and tuning
• Exposure to Advance Control Systems will be advantageous
• Sound knowledge of Concentrators processing plant
• A Respectable working relationship with Production Superintendent and his team.
