Job Description
Contracts and Quantity Surveying Manager
KL Office Based | 5 Days a Week
Why You Should Apply
- Join a highly reputable main contractor with strong, established relationships with PMCs and Developers, who proactively invite the company to bid and tender for work.
- Benefit from an above-average win ratio, increasing the likelihood that your efforts on bids will convert into actual projects.
- Work on ongoing, phase-by-phase projects, supported by robust relationships with suppliers and contractors.
- The company is recognized for timely payments, which helps you build trust, negotiate better pricing, and secure favorable contract conditions.
- Take over a well-optimized department of 8-10 staff, featuring strong documentation, efficient processes, and a positive team culture—no need to resolve legacy issues.
What You Will Do
- Prioritize your team by upskilling, promoting, and managing a high-performing group who enjoy their work environment.
- Set the strategy for tendering, negotiation, and both pre- and post-contract management.
- Exercise autonomy over end-to-end cost management, including:
- Cost estimates
- Bill of quantities
- Tendering and evaluation
- Change orders
- Final account close-out
- Proactively manage contracts and budgets, aiming for win-win outcomes with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify issues early and collaborate with project directors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
What You Will Need
- 8-10 years of experience in Contracts and Quantity Surveying.
- The majority of your experience should be with a privately owned or listed mid-to-large main contractor.
- Experience working with a mix of G7 tier 1 and tier 2 building contractors in Malaysia, with the ability to implement best practices from previous employers.
- Proven track record in tendering and managing external/non-government projects (such as building, high-rise, offices, and construction). In-house main contractor experience will also be considered.
About the Company & Team
- G7 mid-to-large main contractor with a small but growing property division; established for over 40 years and listed on Bursa.
- The external project portfolio includes high-rise buildings, offices, expo centers, airports, and shopping malls.
- Some high-value government projects (LRT/MRT depots and stations) are in the pipeline, but the company’s growth does not depend on government or in-house projects.
- The contracts team consists of 20 members, with 2 contract managers reporting to the GM of contracts.
- Procurement and legal functions are managed separately.
