We are looking for a skilled Shopify Frontend Developer to join our team on a 3-month contract. This role involves full end-to-end Shopify store setup, working from an approved design template to deliver a complete, polished online shop. You will collaborate with business and design teams to implement products, content, and functionality that aligns with our brand. Key Responsibilities
Customise Shopify themes and templates using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Implement the approved store design into Shopify, ensuring a consistent, high-quality frontend experience.
Set up and configure the store from start to finish, including:
Product creation & variant setup
Collections & navigation
Shipping rates and rules
Payment methods
Store settings and policies
Analytics, tracking (GA4, Meta pixel, etc.), and conversion events
Use Shopify GitHub integration for theme version control, deployments, and safe rollbacks.
Work closely with the business team to refine copy, product descriptions, and content direction.
Liaise with the design team to source imagery, banners, and visual assets.
Strategically gather all requirements and own the implementation process from start to finish.
Perform thorough QA and ensure all pages are responsive, accurate, and ready for production launch.
Requirements
Proven experience building and customising Shopify Online Store 2.0 stores end-to-end.
Strong knowledge of Liquid, CSS/SCSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
Experience working with Git and GitHub, especially with Shopify-connected workflows.
Ability to translate business needs, brand direction, and design templates into final Shopify implementations.
Excellent communication skills and confidence working with non-technical stakeholders.
Highly organised, proactive, and able to drive a store setup independently.
Nice to Have
Experience with Shopify apps, metafields, schema-driven sections, and theme extensions.
Familiarity with SEO best practices for Shopify stores.
Experience working with lifestyle, luxury, or design-focused brands.
Contract Details
Start Date: 15 January 2026 or soonest thereafter
Duration: 3 months
Location: Bellville (on-site or hybrid by agreement)
Competitive contract rate based on experience.
