HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia’s publicly funded health employers. HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more.

OPPORTUNITY:
HEABC has an opening for a 16-month contract for a Consultant in the Health Care Assistant (HCA) team, Health Match BC. Reporting to the Manager, HCA, the Consultant, plans and manages the effective delivery of initiatives and projects aimed at increasing the number of qualified HCAs in BC.
The Consultant is responsible for strategically communicating with applicants to support them in their pursuit of registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry (Registry), particularly applicants who are required to take competency assessments.
In this role, you will guide HCA applicants in understanding/fulfilling requirements to become registered using a consultative process to uncover applicants’ goals and motivations and advise on solutions/incentives/pathways. This will include updating and monitoring applicants’ progress, remaining current with applicants and advising them, where appropriate, about funding initiatives to support their HCA Education and creates a career action plan. You will also plan, develop, and deliver workshops to broaden reach to BC HCAs and BC health employers. The role will involve reviewing and producing quarterly applicant-to-registrant conversion metrics and, in collaboration with the team, forming targets for future metrics.
You will provide advice to improve marketing strategies and establish and maintain effective working relationships with key partners, including health authority representatives and other BC health employers, post-secondary educators, employment agencies and industry associations’ staff. The Consultant will represent the Province of British Columbia at local, national and international venues.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, a strong communicator and possess a demonstrated ability to think critically, solve complex problems, keep diligent records and collect and report statistical data.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably related to Human Resources, Business Administration, or Social Services or another relevant degree.
Five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent related human resources experience in the health care sector providing expertise in admissions/educational advising, HR strategies, analysis and problem solving, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Demonstrated customer service, ability to provide strategic consultative advice, problem solve and facilitate resolutions within unclear guidelines and established frameworks.
Ability to research and present issues, prioritize work, and make formal presentations.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
High degree of proficiency with computers & MS Office software, including MS Teams.
Physical ability to set up and dismantle conference displays is required.
Immigration expertise considered an asset.
BC Driver’s License and travel are required.

Salary Range: $76,111 to $99,895
Typical Hiring Range: $76,111 to $95,138
In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
