Within our Deal Advisory & Infrastructure (DAI) group, the Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) team partners with clients to deliver major capital programs and capability acquisition projects. We provide engineering advisory, program management, governance, and assurance services - supported by data-driven tools and proven methodologies to increase project success at every stage of the asset lifecycle.

Our deep engineering expertise, combined with the breadth of KPMG’s national infrastructure capability, offers a unique opportunity to work across significant, high profile projects in defence, national security, and government infrastructure.

 

The Opportunity

We’re seeking motivated engineering professionals in the early stages of their careers, with relevant experience, to join our Canberra-based Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) team. In this role, you’ll contribute to complex and meaningful work that helps shape Australia’s critical defence and infrastructure landscape.

In this role, you will:

• Support engineering and technical advisory services across maritime and broader infrastructure projects.
• Assist in feasibility assessments, engineering analysis, and the development of tailored client solutions.
• Contribute to project management activities including planning, scheduling, risk analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
• Use data-driven tools and methodologies to help optimise asset performance and lifecycle decisions.
• Prepare client-facing deliverables such as business cases, reports, and presentations.
• Work collaboratively with Defence and national security organisations to enhance capability readiness and operational outcomes.

 

What You’ll Bring

We value diversity of thought and experience. To succeed in this role, your skills and background may include:

• Experience in engineering, ideally in maritime, infrastructure, or asset-heavy environments.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure or capability acquisition programs (maritime experience highly regarded).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with solid written and verbal communication skills.
• A foundation in project management, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
• Familiarity with Defence or national security environments (desirable).
• Proficiency with engineering or project management tools and software.
• NV1 security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.

• A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Systems, Infrastructure, or related disciplines) or equivalent technical qualifications.
