Job Title: Construction Project Manager – Structural Steel
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift
Compensation: Up to $85,000 annually, based on experience
Travel: 10–15% local travel required (mileage reimbursed)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Construction Project Manager with experience in structural steel to lead projects from initial planning through final delivery. This role is responsible for coordinating fabrication and installation efforts while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and interpret construction documents, including structural drawings and shop drawings, to define project scope
• Coordinate with fabrication teams, detailers, field crews, and contractors to ensure efficient workflow
• Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting timelines as needed to meet milestones
• Monitor material procurement and delivery timelines to support project progress
• Track project costs, manage budgets, and provide ongoing financial updates and forecasts
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
• Conduct site visits to evaluate progress, lead coordination meetings, and resolve field issues
• Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders
• Identify potential risks and implement solutions related to fabrication, scheduling, and installation
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication or erection
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction specifications
• Familiarity with industry standards such as AWS and AISC
• Experience collaborating with fabrication shops, subcontractors, and field teams
• Proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling tools/software
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Ability to problem-solve effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Tekla Structures or Tekla PowerFab
