Job Overview:
RBA Builders is seeking a motivated, entry-level Project Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone beginning their career in construction who wants to gain hands-on experience supporting project planning, coordination, and execution.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and driven individual who enjoys problem solving, working collaboratively with teams, and learning how commercial construction projects are managed from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
Gain hands-on exposure to field operations, including construction methods and coordination across different project types
Learn to read and interpret key project documents such as drawings, specifications, and reports
Assist with submittals, shop drawings, and maintaining organized project documentation and logs
Support project teams with coordination, change orders, and basic cost tracking
Help with estimating tasks, including bid packages, scope reviews, and subcontractor proposals
Develop an understanding of project scheduling, procurement tracking, and critical path timelines
Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers on project execution and closeout activities
Build professional relationships with subcontractors, architects, and clients
Follow and support safety procedures, documentation, and jobsite compliance efforts
Strengthen organizational and administrative skills while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or in progress)
Basic ability to read and interpret construction plans, scopes, and specifications.
Familiarity with construction-related software such as scheduling tools or project management platforms
Experience:
0–2+ years of experience in construction management, engineering, or related internship/co-op experience preferred
Exposure to construction projects through internships, field experience, or academic project work
Prior experience using construction management software (such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms) is a plus
Skills:
Project Management Software: Exposure to Procore (or similar platforms) for documentation and project tracking
Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to learn and collaborate
Analytical Ability: Ability to review plans and documents to identify potential issues with guidance
Technical Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus
Time Management: Able to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Abilities:

Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation

Certifications:
Procore Project Management Certified (preferred, not required)
LEED Green Associate (preferred)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred)
Working Conditions:
This role involves both office and site locations.
Physical demands include walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
The position requires visits to construction sites, including wearing appropriate safety PPE.
