Job Description
Takco is urgently in need of several operators that are available to work onsite in various locations throughout the southeast.
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy civil construction machinery to support site development, grading, excavation, utilities installation, and roadway work. This role requires experienced judgment, precision, and the ability to work effectively with field crews, foremen, and project supervisors.
Operate various equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, motor graders, rollers, and haul trucks.
Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling according to project requirements.
Maintain accuracy and control when working around utilities, personnel, traffic, and structures.
Use GPS machine control (if applicable) and follow grade stakes, lasers, and layouts.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete equipment pre‑use checklists.
Identify unsafe conditions, hazards, or equipment issues and report them immediately.
Maintain awareness around active excavation areas, trenches, and underground utilities.
Operate equipment with precision to meet grade tolerances and project specifications.
Work efficiently to maintain production goals without compromising safety or quality.
Assist with ground labor tasks when equipment operation is not required.
Support proper installation of utilities, drainage systems, and structural components.
Perform light maintenance such as greasing, fueling, cleaning, and minor adjustments.
Report mechanical issues or needed repairs promptly to supervisors or mechanics.
Coordinate with foremen, pipe crews, laborers, and other operators to ensure smooth workflow.
Follow instructions clearly from site supervisors.
Communicate site conditions, hazards, and progress throughout the workday.
