About Your Role
CMTS is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support large-scale educational facility construction projects within a major capital improvement program. This role is responsible for leading project teams, managing multiple concurrent construction projects, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with district standards and program requirements.

Bachelor’s degree in:
Architecture
Engineering
Urban Planning
Construction Management
Or a closely related field
Additional qualifying experience exceeding the minimum requirements may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done
Minimum five (5) years of experience managing multiple construction projects
Experience working within large capital improvement programs
Familiarity with applicable Public Codes and public sector construction requirements
Strong leadership and team management skills
Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications
Experience reviewing and developing construction contract documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prepare and present project reports and data to multiple stakeholder groups
Knowledge of construction project delivery processes, quality management systems, and project closeout procedures
Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects ranging from $2M to $15M in value
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in educational facility construction
Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Knowledge of all phases of the project life cycle including planning, design, construction, and closeout
Experience with alternative project delivery methods
Experience using web-based project management systems such as Proliance
Experience with LEED-certified and/or Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS) projects
Experience in formal construction partnering
Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes or similar regulatory agencies
Valid Architect registration issued by the California Architectural Board
Valid Professional Engineer license issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
Valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential issued by CMCI
What You’ll Do
Lead construction teams in accordance with District and Program policies and procedures
Train project teams on LACCD and PMO policies and procedures
Follow and execute Program Quality Management System requirements
Coordinate and collaborate with the Program Management Office on project-related matters
Review and develop construction contract documents
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and report on project team performance and construction activities
Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
Maintain accurate and timely project documentation and reporting
Prepare and present project information and updates to multiple stakeholder groups
Successfully manage and execute 5–10 concurrent construction projects ranging from $2M to $15M each
Deliver projects on schedule and within budget
Coordinate budget and schedule information with Relocation Project Managers regarding FF&E, asset disposition, surplus, and relocation activities
Manage project closeout activities including D5A and PMO/District closeout requirements
Track project status and provide management reports related to scheduling, staffing, cost control, and contract compliance
Review and inspect construction site offices to evaluate team performance and compliance with legal requirements
Assist in dispute resolution related to construction projects
Support outreach efforts and provide information regarding college construction projects
Perform related duties as assigned
