Position Summary
The Construction Management Internship Program provides hands-on experience supporting the management of HVAC and plumbing projects. Interns gain exposure to all phases of construction—preconstruction, fabrication, and field installation—while working closely with experienced professionals to develop a strong understanding of project planning, execution, and client coordination.
Interns will rotate between Estimating and Project Management, allowing them to gain a well-rounded understanding of mechanical contracting operations. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to supporting the Project Management, Estimating, and Construction teams and contributing to successful project outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities
Gain hands-on exposure to mechanical contracting and construction processes
Learn and observe construction site safety standards and procedures
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical construction documents
Review drawings, specifications, and submittals
Develop an understanding of project documentation and field production reports
Participate in preconstruction and coordination meetings
Engage with clients, subcontractors, and vendors alongside internship program mentors
Shadow fabrication department personnel and on-site field teams
Gain proficiency using Procore construction management software
Attend job meetings as required
Assist with project management and estimating tasks as assigned by internship program mentors
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Rising Junior or Senior majoring in Building Science, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum Experience
No prior experience required
Skills and Competencies
Mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of construction documents, plans, and specifications preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to learn and utilize Procore and other construction software
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a company office, job site trailer, or active construction site. This position may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and physical risks associated with construction environments. Extended periods of sitting, standing on hard surfaces, walking job sites, and driving may be required. Overnight travel is rare but may occur.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position include listening, speaking, writing, typing, reaching, kneeling, grasping, stooping, driving during day and night hours, climbing ladders and equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
