Construction/Flooring Estimator

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for generating flooring project estimates based on floor plans, field measurements, project specifications, and related documents and photos. This includes determining the best installation methods and directions and determining material quantities.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed analysis of flooring plans, specifications, field measurements, flooring requirements and related photos and documents to determine the full scope of flooring requirements.

Perform accurate material take-offs and generate precise cost estimates for all materials and labor.

Utilize flooring estimating software (e.g., Measure Square) and industry knowledge to create detailed project estimates and support documentation. We will train the right person on Measure Square.

Identify any omissions, inaccuracies, or discrepancies in project plans and specifications and correct as necessary.

Develop and manage project change orders, ensuring accurate pricing and clear communication with all parties.

Collaborate closely with internal teams and installers to clarify project scope, address questions, and ensure alignment on all expectations.

Serve as a key resource for the sales team by assisting with final project preparation and providing technical support during client negotiations.

Generate and maintain detailed project files, including clear and concise drawings, installation instructions and other related documents.

Actively contribute to the refinement of estimating processes and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Meticulously maintain all project documentation, ensuring records of drawings, photos, and notes are current and accurate.

Check job sites for completion and customer satisfaction.  Discuss errors-call backs on installation with subcontractors.

Additional Responsibilities

Receiving truck deliveries.

Organization to keep a tidy and accessible warehouse.

Preparing of pallets according to work orders to make sure they are ready for jobs.

General cleanliness of warehouse.

Fork Truck – make sure the overall machine is operable, maintained and the propane tanks are refilled when needed.

Assist installers, contractors & customers with loading orders for jobs.

Assist in monitoring dumpster level to make sure it is emptied in a timely manner.

Occasional jobsite deliveries, this is something we do not usually offer but to some customers we do if it is a small delivery.

Communicate with vendors such as snow plowing, electricians, propane, etc.

Maintain company vehicles for cleanliness, inspection stickers and maintenance.

Qualifications

Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, addenda, change order documents, create RFIs, and technical procedures related to the flooring industry is required.

Background in flooring installation, residential and commercial construction.

Critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and estimates simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and meeting strict deadlines.

Prompt and responsive.

Must be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.

Ability to handle take-off and estimating tasks on multiple projects at one time with the ability to prioritize these activities.

Must be computer literate, mandatory requirement.
