We are actively seeking a Construction Equipment Maintenance & Field Service Technician to support fleet reliability and job site operations in Charleston, SC. This is a full-time, hands-on role responsible for maintaining small tools, light-duty construction equipment, and related machinery that keep projects moving across Charleston, SC.
Unlike a traditional mechanic position focused solely on shop repairs, this role combines in-shop diagnostics with field-based service calls. You will work directly with superintendents and project teams throughout Charleston, SC to minimize downtime, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain operational readiness. The ideal candidate is comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems independently while maintaining organized service documentation.

Core Responsibilities
• Inspect, service, and repair small engines, electric tools, and light construction machinery
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failure and extend asset life
• Travel to job sites in Charleston, SC to complete on-site diagnostics and emergency repairs
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, fuel, ignition, and electrical system issues
• Conduct operational testing after repairs to confirm full functionality and safety compliance
• Maintain accurate digital maintenance logs and equipment history records
• Prepare equipment for deployment, including cleaning, staging, and final inspection
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA and DOT safety standards
Requirements:
• Prior experience as a mechanic, equipment technician, or construction maintenance professional
• Strong understanding of small engine repair, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems
• Ability to read technical manuals and follow manufacturer service procedures
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL strongly preferred
• Must be able to pass a standard background check
• Basic computer skills for service documentation and reporting
• Reliable, organized, and capable of working independently in field environments
Education & Certifications
• High School Diploma or GED required
• First Aid / CPR certification preferred
Work Schedule & Environment
• Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
• Combination of shop-based repairs and outdoor field support throughout Charleston, SC
• Reliable transportation required to commute to the Charleston, SC shop location
Benefits:
• Annual salary range: $66,000 – $88,000
