Key Responsibilities
Identifies, evaluates, and qualifies components and materials used in the company’s technology.
Tracks lifecycle status of components and investigates alternate component technologies or suppliers with a focus on cost reduction and improving quality and reliability.
Acts as technical interface between component/material suppliers and the procurement team in helping to determine new and alternate sources.
Develop guidelines/procedures on vendor selection and counterfeit mitigation.
Evaluates supplier/product change notifications (PCNs) for impact to the business and qualifies changes, as needed.
Help maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation.
Coordinate failure analysis and corrective action activities on component parts.
Support counterfeit prevention program by identifying component level testing
requirements to determine authenticity of parts received from non-franchised
distributors.
Review parts lists of electronic circuit card assemblies; verify pad to part footprints and mechanical/electrical interfaces on new and revised design and on alternate component selections.
Interface with Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Engineering to provide
recommendations on design for manufacturing related issues.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Materials Science or a related field preferred, plus a minimum of 1 year of direct experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with data-driven decision-making.
Experience with SAE AS6171 (testing procedures), AS6081 (distributor avoidance/testing), and AS5553 (avoidance for manufacturers) standards is a plus.
IDEA-ICE-3000 Professional Inspector Certification is a plus.
