Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Component Development Engineer (all genders) with focus on Turbo Machinery to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in turbomachinery mechanical design to develop critical components such as rotors, housings, gas bearings, and cooling systems—playing a key role in advancing our next-generation propulsion technologies:
• You develop the mechanical design of turbomachinery rotors and housings.
• You select gas bearings for high-speed turbomachines.
• You perform rotor dynamics analyses and optimize the rotor design.
• You develop cooling concepts for high-performance turbomachinery.
• You collaborate closely with a team of Component, Design, and Simulation Engineers as well as Joby colleagues.
Requirements:
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Professional experience in turbomachinery mechanical design
• Skills in CAD (preferably Catia) and FEM (preferably Altair)
• Experience with gas bearing technology and rotor dynamics
• Knowledge in cooling concept design
• Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
