Job Description

As Competitive Operations II for VALORANT - Global, you will be a senior craft expert responsible for designing, governing, and executing competitive operations across the VALORANT esports ecosystem globally. You will partner with global and regional stakeholders to evolve competition formats, refine rules and policies, and ensure that professional play meets the highest standards of operational excellence and competitive integrity.

In this role, you will own critical competitive operations programs end-to-end — from rules & policy development, tournament operations, and cross-regional alignment. You will serve as a trusted point of contact for pro teams, tournament organizers, and internal Riot teams, balancing competitive fairness, player experience, and business sustainability.

In addition to competitive operations, you will contribute to VALORANT esports product management by collaborating on seasonal roadmaps, defining competitive feature requirements, and providing operational insights that inform product strategy. You will connect the day-to-day realities of running competitions with the long-term vision of the VALORANT esports product, ensuring that tournament structures, broadcast considerations, and player programs work together to create a compelling experience for fans, players, and partners.

Role Applied

VALORANT esports is a growing and highly competitive ecosystem globally. Your work will ensure our competitions deliver:

• Best-in-class entertainment for fans

• A clear, aspirational path for pro players

• A stable, sustainable environment for teams, players and partners

• Ensure execution and competitive integrity across all tiers of play

You will work closely with the Global Product Team, the Head of Competitive Operations for VALORANT, and global & regional counterparts to build scalable processes, resolve complex disputes, and shape the long-term competitive landscape for VALORANT.

Responsibilities:

• Competition Governance – Own the creation, evolution, and enforcement of VALORANT competition rules, policies, governance frameworks and operational structure globally; ensure alignment with global standards and regional needs

• Tournament Operations Leadership – Oversee match operations, format execution, and competitive integrity processes for top-tier VALORANT events globally; anticipate and resolve competitive issues in real time

• Stakeholder Partnership – Serve as a liaison for pro team leadership, tournament operators, vendors, and internal Riot teams; drive collaboration across Publishing, Community, Broadcast, Legal, Business Development, Events teams, etc.

• Integrity & Dispute Resolution – participate in investigations, rulings, and conflict resolution to uphold fairness and transparency in competition

• Program Innovation – Partner with global & regional competitive operations to pilot new formats, technologies, and player programs that shape the future of VALORANT esports

• Cross-Regional Alignment – Coordinate with comp ops teams across other territories to ensure process consistency and operational excellence across VALORANT esports

• Ecosystem Insight – Generate insights on the VALORANT esports ecosystem to inform strategic decision-making and program development; identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the competitive landscape

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in esports or sports league operations, tournament administration, or sports media entertainment, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead role

• Strong knowledge of VALORANT gameplay, competitive structure, and community; able to distinguish between competitive features and bugs

• Proven ability to design, implement, and refine competition rules, tournament formats, and operational processes

• Deep familiarity with the global esports ecosystem, including the Americas, China, EMEA, and Pacific

• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, balancing player experience, competitive integrity, and business needs

Desired Qualifications:

• Fluency in additional language(s) beyond English

• Experience operating competitions at the international or interregional level

• Background in both publisher-run and third-party esports tournament operations

• Familiarity with IP governance, sponsorship regulations, and broadcast considerations in esports

• Experience contributing to monetization or commercial programs for esports properties
