Community Support Worker
The Grove – Older Adults Shelter | Ruth and Naomi’s Mission
Ruth and Naomi’s (RAN) is a Christian faith-based organization dedicated to transforming the lives of people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction through the love of God. We walk alongside individuals with hope, grace, and trust, fostering a safe and supportive community where everyone matters.
The Grove is our newest shelter, designed specifically to support older adults experiencing homelessness. With a focus on stability, dignity, and community, The Grove offers a quiet, structured, and respectful environment tailored to the needs of aging adults.
We are currently seeking a Casual Permanent Community Support Worker to join our growing team. This role includes a mix of day, afternoon, and overnight shifts and plays a vital part in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our participants.
What You’ll Do:
Foster a calm, respectful, and faith-based atmosphere that reflects our values of Grace, Hope, and People.
Support older adult residents with daily needs, including referrals, advocacy, and emotional support.
Perform regular safety and wellness checks to ensure the comfort and security of all residents.
Maintain strong professional boundaries while responding calmly and effectively to crises or behavioral challenges.
Complete shift documentation, incident reports, and staff communication logs with accuracy and attention to detail.
Participate in cleaning duties
Who You Are:
Grade 12 or equivalent; post-secondary education in Social Services or related fields is an asset.
Experience working with older adults or individuals facing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
Familiarity with trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and person-centered support.
First Aid/CPR Level 1, Naloxone training, and a Class 5 Driver’s License are preferred.
Flexible and reliable, ideally with the ability to work a rotation of day, afternoon, and overnight shifts.
