We are looking for up to 8 caring and reliable Community Support Workers to support a client with an intellectual disability and autism. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day.

Employment Type: Permanent Part-time.

Job Location: Palmerston North and nearby regions.
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work.
The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with our Service Users to provide support as they go about their daily tasks
Assisting with complex personal cares
Assisting with household management and meal preparation
Supporting exercise programmes
Assisting with accessing the community
Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter Care
Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
Medication support
Support the Service Users in achieving positive goals in their lives and contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the services
Maintaining the Service User’s safety and well-being.
About You | He Momo
You are a calm and confident individual who demonstrates resilience and empathy, with a strong understanding of the challenges our service users may face. Being a support worker comes with many responsibilities—it can be both challenging and deeply rewarding. The greatest reward comes from being part of the support that enables a person to live their best life in the community.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting people with autism, intellectual disabilities, or challenging behaviours is a plus
Patience, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to flexible schedules
A genuine passion for helping others
A supportive mindset to help our Service Users achieve their goals for independent living in the community
Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
Access to your own car and ability to drive independently ( a Full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.
Benefits | Ki te huanga
Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.78 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
