Job Title: Community Service Worker
Location: Labrador City, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position until August 20,2026
Start date: June 25, 2026
Pay Rate: $16.35
Duration: 35 hours/week
Closing date: Until filled
Reporting to the Regional Settlement Coordinator, the Community Service Worker will mainly assist the Regional Settlement Coordinator in building community capacity for newcomers in the region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist the Regional Settlement Coordinator in planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration
Assist the Community Connections Officer, as needed, in supporting community engagement and program delivery
Assist with the development of marketing and promotional materials, including informational brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats
Assist in coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers
Maintain regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers
Qualifications and Experience:
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse clients
Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and have legal authorization to work in Canada
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Must have own means of transportation
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP
