SUMMARY
United Communications is seeking a Community Engagement & Event Coordinator to join our Marketing team. This role is instrumental in organizing and executing dynamic community events and employee-centered activities that enhance customer experience, drive brand awareness, and strengthen community partnerships. With a direct impact on our Net Promoter Score (NPS), this position is key to fostering strong relationships and supporting United’s mission of delivering exceptional service throughout Middle Tennessee.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, personable, and creative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about community engagement. This role also includes content creation for United’s social media platforms and strategic branding initiatives to increase visibility in target markets.
POSITION SCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS
Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to support events on evenings and weekends as required.
Primary office location: Berry Farms, Franklin, TN, with regular local travel throughout United’s footprint in Middle
Tennessee (currently eleven counties).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.
Event Planning & Execution:
Plan, coordinate, and execute engaging community events, sponsorship activations, and internal company initiatives that enhance United’s reputation and visibility.
Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless event execution.
Manage logistics, vendor relations, budgeting, and on-site coordination for all events.
Track and measure the success of events based on attendance, engagement, lead generation, on-site sales made during events, and feedback.
Community & Brand Engagement:
Develop and nurture partnerships with local businesses, community leaders, and organizations.
Collaborate with Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) and other utility partners such as Duck River Electric Membership Corporation on co-branding initiatives.
Represent United Communications at local festivals, resource fairs, and community outreach programs.
Maintain and update the master event calendar to align with strategic business objectives.
Marketing & Content Development:
Capture compelling content (photos, videos, and stories) for social media and digital platforms.
Work closely with the marketing team to ensure event promotions align with United’s brand strategy and annual revenue growth goals.
Contribute creative ideas for marketing campaigns that drive audience engagement.
Cross Department Collaboration:
Partner with Sales, Customer Experience, and Operations teams to integrate marketing efforts into company-wide initiatives.
Identify opportunities for additional community programs and partnerships to enhance United’s outreach.
Maintain strong internal communication to ensure company-wide support for engagement initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Support other marketing and company initiatives as needed.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Senior Marketing Manager.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications
Requires a two-year degree from an accredited college, or 2-4 years of related experience in marketing, public relations, or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of experience in event planning, community engagement, or a related role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects effectively.
A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic graphic design skills and experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of social media marketing and content creation.
Strong conceptual and creative design skills with the ability to contribute ideas and marketing solutions.
