COMMUNITY COORDINATOR (FTE) - VENTURE DEVELOPMENT
INVEST OTTAWA – BAYVIEW YARDS
Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement, you will support the delivery of Venture programs through external client communications, cross-program events, and the community services available to Venture clients—including the Studio7 coworking space, software perks, a virtual knowledge center and much more. This role plays a key part in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem through event execution, tenant and community engagement, data tracking, and cross-team collaboration. The position is well-suited to an organized, creative, and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Corporate Pay Band B: $49,600-$74,400
Hiring Salary Range: $49,600 - $63,000
Reason for opening: Backfilling a position
This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards, minimum 10 days a month.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Event Management
Plan, execute, and evaluate hybrid and in-person events that engage Venture clients and the broader startup ecosystem.
Support cross-program collaborations by coordinating logistics, communications, and event promotion.
Gather participant feedback and performance metrics to inform continuous improvement of future events.
Manage event registration, catering, room bookings, and day-of setup to ensure seamless execution.
Leadership, Contributions & Impact:
Demonstrates active listening and open communication with a diverse range of team members
Encourages input and feedback from all team members to foster an inclusive environment.
Effective Communications
Draft, design, and distribute engaging newsletters and community updates that highlight upcoming events, opportunities, and success stories.
Promote Venture programs, services, and events through multiple channels, including email and Slack.
Collaborate with the marketing and Venture teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.
Relationship Building
Onboard and offboard Studio7 tenants, ensuring a professional and welcoming experience.
Maintain the coworking space and shared amenities, addressing tenant needs promptly and effectively.
Foster a sense of community and collaboration among tenants and Venture clients.
Serve as a primary point of contact for community inquiries, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Data & Reporting:
Track, analyze, and report on community engagement metrics to measure service impact.
Use Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, and other data tools to maintain accurate records of event participation, space utilization, and community engagement.
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in marketing, business, or similar field
Previous experience in event management, communications or project management is an asset
Experience using Canva, Knak, Luma, Eventbrite, Asana, and Slack considered an asset
Familiar with creating and managing virtual events through Zoom
Familiar with planning and executing in-person events
Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks;
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varied deadlines;
Exceptional attention to detail;
Self-starter who is highly motivated and takes initiative.
