Community Ambassador (Resident Leadership Role)
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB POSTING
South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre (SEOCHC)
Part-time: 5–10 hours/week | Paid position
South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre (SEOCHC) is a community-governed organization providing health and social services in Ottawa South.
We are hiring multiple Community Ambassadors from Heatherington, Banff/Ledbury, and Herongate. These roles are new to SEOCHC as they are being added to the existing Community Ambassador group.
This role supports our Locally Driven Population Health (LDPH) work—helping improve health equity by working with residents to increase access to cancer prevention and chronic disease supports and help navigate and make referrals to programs/services/supports. Community Ambassadors work closely with staff and other community partners.
About the Role
Community Ambassadors are trusted community connectors who:
Share clear, culturally respectful health information
Help neighbours learn about cancer screening and chronic disease prevention
Connect residents to programs and supports
Support community outreach and events
Participate in planning community activities
Identify barriers residents face and share insights with staff
You will work closely with SEOCHC staff and community partners.

Is open to learning and participating in training
No formal healthcare experience is required. Experience through everyday life—such as caregiving, volunteering, parenting, faith groups, or community involvement—is valued.

Communicate clearly and stay organized
Build respectful, positive relationships
Work well in a team and help solve problems
Be open to learning and trying new things
Be comfortable speaking one-on-one or in small groups
Be able to work flexible hours (including evenings/weekends)
Requirements:
English (spoken and written)
Basic computer skills (email, documents)
Assets:
French or other languages
Compensation
$23.17 – $25.32/hour + 4% in lieu of benefits
