Job Description
Communications Specialist, UK & Ireland Content and Regional
Company:
Boeing United Kingdom Limited
We are seeking a senior Communications Specialist to lead and deliver integrated communications across Boeing’s UK, Ireland and Nordics markets, supporting BCA (Boeing Commercial Airplanes), BDS (Boeing Defence, Space & Security) and BGS (Boeing Global Services). Reporting directly to the Head of Communications for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, this role will have a significant emphasis on internal communications across the region while also supporting external, stakeholder and media-facing activity tailored for multiple markets and regulatory environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement regional communications strategies and integrated plans for the UK, Ireland and Nordics that align with global Boeing priorities and local business needs across BCA, BDS and BGS.
• Own internal communications for regional audiences: executive updates, intranet/editorial content, employee emails, leadership briefing materials and town halls.
• Produce and adapt external communications and stakeholder materials as required: press statements, partner briefings, social media messaging, presentations and customer communications, ensuring localisation and regional sensitivity.
• Translate technical, regulatory and programme material from SMEs into clear, audience‑appropriate messaging for commercial, defence and services stakeholders across differing national contexts.
• Provide strategic counsel to regional and country leadership; coordinate closely with Global Communications, Government Affairs, Legal, Security and HR to ensure consistent, compliant and risk‑managed messaging.
• Lead or support issues, reputational and crisis communications response in coordination with global teams and local compliance functions.
• Manage regional content governance and brand consistency: messaging frameworks, approval workflows, templates, tone/voice guidance and localisation practices for outputs across the three businesses.
• Measure and report communications effectiveness across channels and markets (engagement metrics, pulse surveys, dashboards) and use insights to iterate on strategy.
• Act as a regular advisor to the Head of Communications, providing status updates, recommendations, and input to regional stakeholder engagement and executive priorities.
Competencies & Skills
• Strategic regional thinker with commercial awareness across BCA, BDS and BGS domains.
• Exceptional ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences and national contexts.
• Strong programme and project management; able to prioritise and balance competing needs across businesses and countries.
• Data-driven approach to measure impact and demonstrate ROI.
• Collaborative leadership and mentoring; builds trusted relationships across multi-disciplinary, multi-country teams.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years’ professional communications experience with responsibility for strategy and delivery at programme, business unit, regional or enterprise level.
• Demonstrable experience leading internal communications and supporting senior leaders across multiple stakeholder groups and geographies.
• Excellent writing, editing, storytelling and content design skills for digital and print channels; strong ability to localise content for different markets.
• Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to operate across commercial, defence and services teams.
• Right to work in the UK, or legal eligibility to work in an EU/EEA country with willingness to relocate if required; ability to travel across the region.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in aerospace, defence, regulated industries, or large matrixed organisations.
• Familiarity with communications constraints for export‑controlled or security‑sensitive programmes.
• Proven experience supporting multiple business units and multiple countries concurrently (localisation experience desirable).
• Multimedia experience (Adobe Creative Suite, basic video editing) and familiarity with internal collaboration platforms (Teams, SharePoint).
• UK security clearance (SC) or the ability to obtain one, or equivalent national clearances in Ireland or Nordics if role requires access to protected information.
Travel and Onsite Requirements
• Hybrid working with regular onsite presence in Westminster; travel across the UK, Ireland and Nordics (up to 20%) for stakeholder events, site visits and cross-site coordination.
