The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) is responsible for the field execution of mission-critical commissioning activities throughout the US. The CxE reports directly to AECOMs Commissioning Project Manager, and ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and controls systems are designed, installed, tested, and operate in accordance with the Owners Project Requirements (OPR) and related industry standards. Throughout the project, the CxE collaborates closely with the AE, contractors, vendors, and clients to deliver reliable, efficient, and resilient data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support commissioning field efforts for new construction and retrofit data center projects
• Performs independent commissioning design reviews for compliance with OPR.
• Contributes to the develop of the project commissioning plan and related L1-5 procedures.
• Assists integrating commissioning activities into the construction schedule.
• Conducts site inspections to verify installation quality and system readiness
• Collaborates with project stakeholders throughout each phase of construction.
• Oversees energization, startups, checkout, testing, and integrated systems testing (IST) of critical systems
• Verifies compliance with OPR for major infrastructure systems:
• UPS systems and switchgear
• Generators and paralleling gear
• Air distribution equipment including AHUs, FCUs, CRAH/CRAC units, and cooling systems
• Hydronic systems including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, control valves
• Building Management Systems (BMS) / Electrical Power Monitoring
• Identify, document, and track deficiencies through resolution
• Prepare commissioning reports and closeout documentation
• Support client training and turnover activities
• Strong situational awareness and compliance with site safety and AECOM safety requirements 
Minimum Qualifications
• BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education. 
• 4 years of commissioning, design, or construction experience in mission-critical environments
• Advanced understanding of data center infrastructure and supporting systems.
• Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is requitred
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Tier 3 / Tier 4 data centers
• Detailed knowledge of ASHRAE Guideline and commissioning processes and documentation requirements.
• Advanced understanding of construction drawings, specifications and submittals.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute standards and/or ASHRAE guidelines
• Commissioning industry certification including:  CxA, BCxP, or CCP.
• Knowledge of redundancy topologies (N, N+1, 2N, 2(N+1))
• Experience troubleshooting controls integration and diagnosing issues related to system sequence of operations
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in high-risk environments
• Excellent communication and coordination across multidisciplinary teams
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commissioning software tools

• 30-50% overnight travel annually.
