We're looking for a detail-oriented and organized Commis 1 (Bakery) to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. In this entry-level bakery position, you'll work alongside experienced bakers to prepare, bake, and finish a variety of baked goods while maintaining the highest standards of quality and food safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your baking skills in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.
• Prepare baking ingredients by measuring, sifting, and mixing according to established recipes and specifications
• Operate bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, and proofing cabinets, following proper safety protocols
• Assist in the production of breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked items while maintaining consistency in quality and presentation
• Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure products are baked to perfection
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery station, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent contamination and ensure product quality
• Assist with portioning, packaging, and labeling of finished baked goods
• Support senior bakers with specialized tasks such as decorating, filling, or assembling baked products
• Rotate stock using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to maintain ingredient freshness
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of orders
• Foundational knowledge of baking techniques and basic pastry preparation
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards in a commercial kitchen
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions with precision and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
• Basic proficiency with bakery equipment and tools
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience in a bakery, pastry shop, or commercial kitchen (preferred)
