Job Description

DeCook Excavating is looking for a Commercial Foreman to fill a critical spot on our team. We would love someone with 5+ years of experience on commercial projects, who is self-motivated and takes pride in the work they and their crew complete.

Foreman at DeCook Excavating are responsible for coordinating the day to day operations at each worksite, solving problems, delegating tasks and setting daily goals. They are the point of contact for the customer, the crew and project managers.

The typical workday is 7am-5pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekends.

What you’ll do:

Takes ownership of each project with appropriate communication, monitoring progress, tracking expenses and proactively addressing potential roadblocks

Strong focus on problem solving, including the appropriate individuals when necessary

Communicates clear expectations to the crews daily, so they can approach every day efficiently

Complete necessary paperwork including daily reports, safety sheets, incident reporting and accurate digital timesheets

Provide feedback and coaching to crew members as needed

Instills positivity and productivity within the team

Able to operate all equipment as needEnforces safe and efficient digging practices in accordance with OSHA regulations

What you need:

Experience operating heavy excavating equipment

Proficient with interpreting blueprints/technical drawings and onsite staking

Experience with water/sewer/storm utility installation including mainline water pipes, service connections, sewer mains, storm drains, culverts, manholes and retention basins

Advanced knowledge of trenching and excavation techniques

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, CDL a plus

Must be 18+

Able to meet physical demands of the job

Getting in/out of equipment

Working in all weather conditions

Bending/kneeling

Lift/carry/pull 80+ lbs

Standing/walking for long periods

Successful completion of background check and motor vehicle report
