Commercial Drywall Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Drywall Estimator to support preconstruction, bidding, and client coordination for commercial interior wall construction projects across the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. This is a client-facing, preconstruction-oriented position focused on developing accurate estimates, preparing competitive proposals, and supporting project acquisition efforts through professional communication with general contractors and owners.

The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of commercial drywall estimating experience, preferably within the North Texas construction market. The role requires strong technical estimating knowledge, attention to risk management, and the ability to handle multiple bids while maintaining high accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed drywall quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings, specifications, and project addenda for commercial projects in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area market.
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates covering labor productivity, material requirements, equipment usage, and site conditions.
• Identify scope conflicts, constructability concerns, and missing work items, and issue RFIs or clarifications when necessary.
• Level vendor and subcontractor pricing while maintaining updated North Texas labor and material cost benchmarks.
• Prepare professional bid proposals including scope inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and schedule considerations.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and risk mitigation prior to submission.
• Support value engineering discussions and preconstruction planning to help clients make informed project decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, and trade partners.
• Present scope summaries, attend pre-bid meetings, and explain pricing assumptions professionally.
• Follow up on submitted bids consistently to improve win rate and market competitiveness.
• Coordinate project handoff with operations and project management teams to ensure accurate transfer of scope and pricing data.

Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of commercial drywall estimating experience in North Texas or comparable major construction markets.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and revision packages.
• Experience estimating drywall assemblies including metal framing, gypsum board, insulation, and related interior systems.
• Strong client-facing communication skills for proposal presentations and scope discussions.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking and accountability.
• Familiarity with commercial construction sectors such as office, healthcare, education, hospitality, or mixed-use developments is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.

Preferred Technical Experience

• Proficiency with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Quick Bid, or Bluebeam Revu.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for cost modeling and bid leveling.
• Exposure to acoustical ceiling or specialty interior construction scopes is a plus.
• Experience with negotiated work, preconstruction budgeting, or design-assist estimating.

Work Environment

• Client-facing preconstruction role requiring local travel within the Dallas–Fort Worth region for meetings, jobsite visits, and presentations.
