Role Overview
The Collections Manager will lead and elevate Specialty Capital’s collections organization with a strong emphasis on structured operating cadence, portfolio performance analytics, KPI accountability, and scalable processes. This leadership role is integral to managing liquidity risk, reducing delinquency, and preserving portfolio value within a high-growth Revenue-Based Finance environment.
Applying strategic judgment and deep collections expertise, the Collections Manager will balance disciplined recovery strategies with creative customer engagement while enforcing regulatory compliance and internal governance standards. This role manages both internal and remote team members and collaborates closely with Risk, Finance, Legal, and Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Portfolio Performance
Lead full lifecycle management of delinquent accounts, including segmentation and prioritization by risk, vintage, ISO partner, and product type.
Analyze payment behavior and delinquency trends to surface portfolio insights and recommend risk policy adjustments.
Develop advanced strategies for recovery that optimize payment rates while protecting customer relationships.
Partner with Risk and Finance on reserve assumptions, monthly forecasting, and charge-off mitigation strategies.
Team Leadership & Operational Management
Manage, mentor, and develop internal and remote collections teams with clear escalation protocols.
Establish structured goals, performance dashboards, KPI scorecards, and incentive frameworks.
Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and training to ensure consistency and excellence.
Operating Cadence
Design and implement standardized daily, weekly, and monthly collections operating rhythms.
Oversee reporting on aged receivables, recovery trends, SLA metrics, and portfolio health.
Present actionable dashboards and insights to executive leadership.
External & Compliance Governance
Lead evaluation and oversight of third-party collection partners; establish performance expectations and legal compliance checks.
Ensure all collections activities adhere to applicable federal and state regulations and internal policies.
Manage escalated account disputes, legal filings, payment plans, and settlements.
Process & Technology Improvement
Identify workflow inefficiencies and work with internal tech and operations teams to automate collections processes and reporting tools.
Ensure CRM/collections systems and data are accurate, auditable, and optimized for decision support.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
30/60/90+ day delinquency trends
Gross and Net Charge-Off Rates
Recovery rates segmented by risk buckets
Days-to-resolution metrics
Payment plan success and cure rates
SLA compliance with internal and external partners
Portfolio yield preservation and forecasting accuracy
Qualifications
5–8+ years of progressive collections leadership experience within financial services, fintech, or Revenue-Based/MCA environments (REQUIRED)
Demonstrated experience managing teams (including offshore or remote staff).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
Hands-on experience with portfolio reporting systems, CRM/collections platforms, and KPI dashboards.
Excellent communicator with a track record of negotiation, problem resolution, and stakeholder influence.
Solid understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in collections operations
Ability to work onsite 5 days a week.
