A Supervisor position is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance department. This position will focus on assisting the shelter’s animal fostering program, transfer (local and out of state) partner network, events team, and volunteer program. Our Animal Care and Control department has hundreds of dedicated volunteers, fosters and partners who help the staff and animals with various tasks. Our foster, volunteer and transfer programs continue to grow and we are seeking an individual who can help us continue to strengthen and expand these programs.

The selected individual must be an effective communicator who is able to demonstrate diplomacy, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills while working with a culturally and ethnically diverse staff, volunteer, and community base.

• This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) that requires the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

• In order to be considered you complete and pass the City’s Defensive Driving course.

• This position may require you to travel to various locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/ GED

• Valid Texas driver’s license

• Specialized training in one or more of the following fields: animal control, code compliance or enforcement, or building/construction trades

• Must be able to obtain an Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services within six (6) months of hire

• Four (4) years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: animal control/field operations, code compliance (direct code enforcement of field inspection), building or construction trades, zoning, or related heavy equipment operations, or operating motorized heavy equipment including one year of administrative and supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in foster, rescue or volunteer service program or related field

• Two (2) years of municipal shelter experience

• One (1) year experience organizing and implementing special events and social networking

• Bilingual skills

The Code Compliance Supervisor - Outbound Team’s job responsibilities include:

• Supervises staff, which includes reviewing time, prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships

• Responds to inquiries and complaints; provides information to neighborhood associations and community members; responds to internal and external customer service requests; provides support for local, state and federal enforcement agencies; and works closely with other departments to provide outstanding customer service

• Reviews and analyzes reports to develop new programs and processes to increase departmental/program efficiency and effectiveness. Develops educational and training programs; and creates documents for external dissemination to promote program engagement

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
