Location: Remote from EU with ocassional visits to Belgium.

Education: Graduate.

Minimum experience: 5 to 7 years.

Main knowledge: COBOL (MANDATORY).

DESCRIPTION:

The Back-End Developer role focuses on executing backend development activities and performing system integration testing. Responsibilities include day-to-day maintenance tasks such as bug corrections and handling evolutionary and project-related tickets, with a strong emphasis on COBOL-based development. The role involves deploying new or updated functionalities to development servers and ensuring stability, performance, and quality of delivered solutions. Work is carried out in a Linux environment using basic command-line operations, with extensive use of SQL for Oracle databases through tools such as Toad or SQL Developer. Additional tasks include supporting documentation and reporting activities using standard MS Office applications.

Key responsabilities:

Develop and maintain backend functionalities with a strong focus on COBOL.

Perform system integration testing and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Handle bug corrections, evolutionary tickets, and project-related tasks.

Deploy new or updated functionalities to development servers ensuring stability and performance.

Operate in Linux environments using command-line operations.

Work extensively with Oracle databases using SQL and tools like Toad or SQL Developer.

Support documentation and reporting activities using MS Office.

Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools.

Proven experience in backend development and system integration.

Strong expertise in COBOL programming and related technologies.

Solid understanding of Linux environments and command-line operations.

Proficiency in SQL and database management for Oracle systems.

Nice-to-Have: UC4 scheduling, KornShell scripting, C++, Thaler framework (financial software), SharePoint Online.
