What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time coastal engineer for our Daphne, AL, Corpus Chrisi, TX, or Houston, TX offices to help lead our gulf coast project teams with coastal engineering, flood resiliency, and water resources projects. We are interested in candidates who are quick learners, detail-orientated, committed team players, and who possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. Applicants will have between 10 – 15 years of experience with coastal engineering, including hydrodynamic and/or hydraulic numerical modeling experience. Experience with coastal engineering concepts such as beneficial use of dredged material, shoreline protection, living shorelines, marsh restoration, and engineering with nature and nature-based solutions are preferred. Experience with water resources concepts such as hydrology, water quality, and dam removal are also preferred, as is proficiency using CAD, GIS, and/or programming languages, such as python.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the engineer supporting development and design for projects involving coastal engineering, including coastal processes, shoreline erosion protection, maintenance dredging and beach nourishment, wetland protection and restoration, and engineering with nature and nature-based solutions concepts
Leads engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, and construction cost estimates
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
Manages team and coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff
Develops client relationships, leads proposals, and contributes to the sales process
Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions
Leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documents
Ensures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA’s quality management program
Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g., Coastal, Ocean, Civil or Environmental Engineering)
10-15 years of experience
Experience with coastal engineering and flood resiliency evaluations
Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and/or water quality numerical modeling
Understanding the application of engineering principles for engineering design, including cost estimating, and development of plans and specifications
Experience in project and program management including developing and managing scopes, detailed schedules, budgets, and sub-consultants
Proficiency in MS Office
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
ArcGIS experience a plus
Python experience a plus
Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within two years
40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)

Salary and Other Compensation:
Compensation=
$ 92,000 - $103,600
Annual Bonus
Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.
Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
