Job Type: Contract to Hire
Rate: 24.00 - $25.00/Hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to work on the 2nd shift in a structural steel fabrication environment. This role involves operating specialized CNC equipment to process steel components while maintaining accuracy, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines for structural steel fabrication
• Interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and work orders to understand project requirements
• Load, position, and secure steel materials such as beams and plates using overhead cranes and rigging tools
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain precision and quality
• Use measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and squares to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Make basic programming edits or adjustments to accommodate variations in material size or thickness
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Qualifications::
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training is a plus
• At least 2 years of CNC operation experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools
• Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
