Cloud Technical Architect (Aviation)

The Polish branch, as the Global Delivery Center, operates in Katowice since 2007 and has been growing ever since. Currently, our team consists of around 1,000 specialists.

Within the Digital Platform Services department, our teams specialize in areas such as cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup or storage, as well as networking and security. We also have 1st line support consultants who speak French and English, but also Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German.

The Application Services department is responsible for areas such as software development, data engineering, testing services, CRM, ITSM and ERP platform integrations, as well as application management for customers in Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

We are looking for a Cloud Technical Architect to join the Sopra Steria Poland team responsible for responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a cloud platform based on AWS. The role focuses on defining standards, creating architecture, automation, and supporting development teams (Software Factory) in designing and deploying scalable, secure, and reliable cloud environments.

Within the Gdańsk-based team, you will act as a key expert developing globally significant solutions for our client’s products in the aviation industry.

Responsibilities:​

• Designing, implementing, and developing scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS.

• Creating architecture and technical recommendations for new components and products.

• Participating in defining non-functional requirements (NFRs) and hosting standards.

• Collaborating with Solution Architects and development teams responsible for the Software Factory.

• Taking over new components and services into the Enterprise Hosting environment.

• Automating infrastructure using IaC (CloudFormation, Terraform), CM tools (Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).

• Optimizing cloud costs and monitoring resource usage.

• Maintaining high platform availability — incident analysis, RCA, and implementing permanent improvements.

• Driving innovation initiatives, evaluating new AWS services, and developing the internal Tech Radar.

• Creating and updating technical documentation.

Tech stack on the project:​ AWS, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Python/Bash, CloudWatch, CI/CD, IaC, Enterprise Hosting standards, AWS Well‑Architected concepts

Must have requirements:​

• Advanced experience in designing and building cloud solutions (preferably AWS).

• Proficient knowledge in automation tools — Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins or similar.

• Strong understanding of enterprise networking (routing, VPC, VPN, DNS, etc.).

• Excellent troubleshooting skills — ability to analyze complex cloud‑related issues.

• Knowledge of shell scripting, databases, and Python.

• Certifications (e.g. Architect Professional, DevOps Professional) are a strong plus.

• Independence, proactiveness, and a high level of initiative.

• Excellent communication and teamwork — ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams (Engineering, Delivery, Ops).

• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to propose long‑term improvements

• Willing to visit our office located in Katowice

• Fluent English: at least B2

The recruitment process for this position consists of two stages:

• a short phone call with a recruiter (30 min max)

• one-hour long interview on Teams (with both general and technical questions)

Salary range:

All information about salary range and its additional components will be provided during the 1st stage of recruitment process.

18 000 - 24 000 PLN gross/month
