How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

We are looking for a Cloud Strategy Manager to lead our cloud cost optimization, governance, and long-term cloud efficiency strategy within the product organization. This role will report directly to the Director of product operations within the CPO organization and is responsible for driving visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement across our cloud footprint.

You will partner closely with Finance, Engineering, Product teams to ensure that our cloud investments are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. Cloud Cost Optimization & Operations

• Own the end-to-end cloud cost management strategy across cloud providers at Cognite

• Analyze spend trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and lead execution of optimization initiatives

• Maintain an optimization backlog and ensure progress through engineering partnerships

• Drive adoption of rightsizing, lifecycle management, autoscaling, and elimination of unused resources

• Build cost-visibility dashboards and KPIs to track performance and progress

Reporting & Insights

• Own all cloud cost and consumption reporting, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insights

• Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly cloud spend reports for Finance, Engineering, and Executive Leadership

• Create dashboards that visualize spend, usage trends, forecasting accuracy, and optimization performance

• Monitor anomalies and usage spikes and proactively communicate risks and drive recommended actions

• Develop standardized reporting templates and metrics for consistent executive-level updates

Strategy & Business Partnerships

• Build business cases for cloud investments, optimization efforts, and architectural trade-offs. Including Providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership on cloud spend, trends, and cost risks

• Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to support contract negotiations, commitment planning, and long-term cloud strategy

• Drive end-to-end execution of cloud partner funding programs in close partnership with our Revenue Partnerships team

Tooling & Automation

• Evaluate and implement cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, Cloudability)

• Partner with Data/Analytics teams to integrate cost data into BI platforms for deeper insights

• Promote automation opportunities that improve efficiency and reduce manual reporting and operational tasks

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud operations, cloud engineering, FinOps, FP&A (tech focus), or Cloud program management

• Prior experience reducing cloud spend at scale (multi-million annual budgets)

Preferred Experience

• Certifications are helpful but not required:

• FinOps Certified Practitioner

• AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect – Associate
